High-end audio sounds unnatural without properly extended bass response. Currently Bass Extension is achieved by using high moving mass drivers in large enclosures. This is a resonance-defined response with time delay and room acoustic anomalies. The Main Speakers have a resonance based on much lower mass while the subwoofer has added mass to lower the resonant frequency. The two systems will operate with two independent sonic presentations especially a concern at the crossover frequency. Currently Subwoofers are marketed on just how loud they will get! The issue when music is involved is how they sound with the first watt. The aural problems that exist are obvious at the lowest volume levels.
High Definition bass cannot exist with a high mass resonance based driver diaphragm. Bass extension devoid of resonance is the desired goal for all quality audio systems. The subwoofer must be neutral and work with the room integrated visually and aurally. Changing observation position should not drastically alter the acoustic integration achieved at the central listening position. While digital players and streaming are popular, turntables are a major audio source for many audiophiles and for some it is a great option. Resonance from subwoofers can be a big problem in a listening room. Floors other than concrete can transfer the resonance right to the turntable and some boxy offenders cause the issue through acoustic transmission. The feedback can be scary and damaging!
The MS-6 Musical Series extends the bass range avoiding boxy resonance through true innovation that involves pressure regulation not resonance. Patented 21st century Virtual Acoustic Transmission Line (VATL) principles are in action to achieve absolutely remarkable extension results. VATL avoids mass and resonance based issues by utilizing physics in a unique way to regulate the pressure behind the diaphragm without the large complicated enclosures typically required for Transmission Line Loading (TLL). TLL is considered the holy grail for loading the dynamic driver and now it is practical in a small form factor.
Typically the desired location for a single MS-6P is symmetrical with the center between the main speakers and near the back wall! Higher crossover frequencies may require two subwoofers. Our customers make a common statement that confirms the complete acoustic integration. Once integrated properly you can’t hear the MS-6P unless you turn it off! Quite a compliment and we want you to have that experience.
Now the audiophile can have extended bass without the bulk and the offensive loss of system fidelity. TBI Audio Systems Musical Series of Subwoofers are now available!
